As parents, it is our responsibility to teach our children about our faith. The best way to do this is by our example. This Children’s Offertory Envelope program will allow our children to participate in the Mass by placing their own Offertory envelope in the basket when we do. We do NOT expect children to put paper money in the envelopes – this is not a way to raise money for the parish, but a way to teach our children about the joy of giving and about our need to be good stewards for our church. Teach your child that it feels good to give by encouraging him or her to place a coin of his or her own in the envelope. Do not put in money from your own wallet – foster a true sense of giving by having your child decide what to give. If he or she does not have a coin, ask him or her to write a prayer for someone and put that inside. We are all called to share our time, talents and treasures to help build up and maintain our parish. Together, we can all become better stewards, supporting our parish buildings and ministries.
